i am a horrible person, unwanted and unloved by everyone. after all who could like a stupid, ugly, filly like me. maylea is a unique little girl. she's the youngest out of five children, her mother being her father's lover. due to these facts, maylea believes herself to be less than perfect, over looked, and unwanted. she's the fourth child her mother's had, which goes to further her belief that she's merely . . . second rate next to her older sister, and older brothers. she's super shy, and super quiet, and would rather hide in the bushes then be seen by others. due to the fact that she has never seen another horse looking like her, she also believes she looks abnormal and unwanted. this avoidant personality disorder is made stronger by a constant sense of paranoia. she constantly thinks everyone is talking about her, and doesn't like being around others, feeling like she's constantly being stalked, watched, followed, and preyed upon. between the avoidant personality disorder, and the paranoia, she tends to have issues with being around other individuals, especially if anyone tries to approach her directly. she is easily startled, easily scared away, and is determined to protect herself from the horses she believes do not want her around, which she believes is everyone. maylea's greatest fear is persephone following her and coming to continue the torture she'd suffered for nearly a year. she's terrified of her older sister, especially considering her sister has everyone tricked, thinking that she treats maylea wonderfully.
maylea likes to be surrounded by silence, it's where she feels safe when all she can hear is the natural world, and thus able to hear anyone who might be coming to hurt her, as she perceives. with her sister's quick actions to lower maylea's vision of herself, maylea has discovered a love of being alone, where all she has to worry about is herself. being alone, she considers, to be safer then being in silence, because when you are alone, no one can hurt you, and she feels that this is all anyone would ever want to do to her. maylea is a equine watcher. she avoids interacting, but it's not uncommon to see her hiding in the bushes, or alone beneath a tree watching those around her. she desperately wishes she could be liked, like all the other horses around her (despite the fact that she could be if she ever went out there and introduced herself.) it's more of the sound of birds that maylea likes, she loves the music they make, and it's not much of a surprise to see her up in the morning listening to the birds sing. growing up in her father's land, she was surrounded by wild animals, enjoying their company. she finds them safer than horses, because most animals can't speak to her, and feed her lies about liking her. it's all about observing them to see what they think of her, and she finds that to be more truthful then any horse could ever be to her. wolves were a common sight in her birthing place, as the co-lead of the land, a stallion by the name of Chronos, had a mate who had a way with these creatures, and had created an army out of them. while still terrified of them, she thinks they are beautiful to watch, and envies their ability to protect themselves with claws and teeth. while she hates thunder and lightning (both terrifying her greatly) maylea loves rain, the sound of it, the refreshment of it, all of it. she simply enjoys it. and when ever she can, she loves to be out in the midst of the rain storm, that is until it starts to thunder too.
maylea absolutely hates rejection, though she expects it to happen to her. however, if she sees someone else face rejection she often will develop a need to protect that person from further rejection, to the point of snarling and being snarky and upset with the equine who rejected the other. maylea has lived with disappointment all her life and she greatly hates it. she cannot stand to get her hopes up and to have it all end up for naught, which is often the reason that she avoids hoping for anything now a days. maylea doesn't like being called names, though her sister had called her thousands of horrible ones, and all it did was make her feel worse about herself. the moment someone calls her a nasty name she often tries to get out of the way and away from it. maylea doesn't like her sister at all, she is maylea's worst enemy, her torturer, and her bane of her existence, and is also the reason that maylea ran away from home. maylea cannot feel resentment towards her sister for all that she has done, and because of this fact, she cannot stand those who show the emotion, resentment. she believes all things happen for a reason, and resenting what happens only makes you hold onto the past, and the pain of the past. maylea has gone all her life so far with only the worst experiences from other horses, thanks to her sister, and because of this she doesn't like to be around other horses, terrified that they will just try to hurt her. while maylea likes, and even envies these creatures, she also dislikes them because they are predators and could hurt her if they so choose. she'd rather admire them from afar . . . very far. maylea doesn't like thunder in any way. it's too loud, constantly scares her, and makes her jump, and is always followed by lightning. in her opinion both suck. while this one seems to make her go deaf, the other tries hard to blind her. maylea also dislikes lightning because of the electricity it has, and the way it can start fires if given the chance. she sees thunder to be annoying, but she knows lightning can be deadly, and she's been hurt enough by equine, she doesn't like the idea of nature having it out for her too. maylea's biggest desire is hard to explain. she says her biggest desire is to be safe, but it's deeper then that. she wants to be safe, happy, and cared for, not to mention liked and loved, in the place she calls home. however, do to her disorders, she doesn't believe this desire will ever be possible.
this tiny girl might not look it but she's extremely strong, mostly physically. She's put up with her sister's abuse to the point that she can usually withstand minor attacks with out showing anything, and she's got her emotions so wrapped up and hidden away that she can hide them completely if she needs to. maylea is very reselent, able to stand up against anything. while she might have her issues, she knows when to stand up for something (or rather someone) and in that rare moment you can see the type of strong, warm hearted mare should could be if given the chance. maylea is honest in a rare way. she sees the truth and acts upon. she doesn't believe in hurting others with the truth, but she isn't a liar either, thus often will be seen not telling all that she knows, in order to protect others. maylea is a sweetheart. she cares more about others then herself and will do what ever it takes to make sure that nothing happens to them. she can be extremely protective over someone when she feels like their happiness is threatened. maylea is a pure sort of soul. despite the stuff she has suffered through she does her best to look forward and keep moving. she's developed the ability to over look the minor attacks, and move past it all. even today, while she fears her sister, and dislikes her control over her, she does not, and will never hate her. maylea's biggest downfall are her disorders. having never tried over coming them, she has allowed them to rule her life so far, giving her no self esteem, a fear of others, the thought she will constantly be unwanted, and the inability to believe otherwise with out true, obvious evidence maylea is an innocent sort of girl, she tries to look for the best in people, despite the fact she believes they all will hate her and ignore her if given the chance. maylea is unbelievably naive. she's so desperate to feel liked and wanted that she'll let herself be conned into a terrible position just to feel those few moments of being cared for and liked. maylea scares so easily that it is often a big downfall for her. the littlest thing can scare her off, and then she never has the chance to experience things and really be able to be part of a herd. maylea is extremely delicate, personality wise. she's easily affected by words, and what others say about her. and once you hurt her, it's almost impossible to win her back over again. - History:
i was born, i was unwanted, my sister made me see that, so i left. maylea was the youngest of a surprise set of triplets between the king of the land, and his mistress. Whiskey Lullaby, her mother, and Grim Reaper, her father, worked hard to take care of the foals, ensuring they all survive the birthing. however, because her older brother was the sickest, they took more time making sure he was alright, despite she being the weak little runt. when persephone realized she was loosing attention, she started going out of her way to steal any attention that maylea might have received. after a couple of months of feeling like her parents cared more about her brother and sister, then she, she began to feeling of being unwanted.
when persephone saw this, she lunged, making her sister feel all the worse by enforcing this feeling, thus before the foal had even see two months past, her disorders had bloomed and forced her into believing the worse. for the next couple of months her sister's verbal attacks began to turn physical, slowly becoming bigger and stronger. starting out as a simple nip, she soon turned to attacking, pushing, and even nearly drowning her sister. with in the last few months the attack got worse, but when she started to seek shelter from Ecco, the prince of her father's co-lead, her sister took this chance to convince her sister no one around here wants her, and eventually sent her away.
thus, maylea took off, running, running as far from the land, and her friends as she could. and now that she's alone, she has never felt so afraid, nor so unsure of what will happen next. everything was fine in the first land she visited, making friends with a stallion there that took her in, adopted her and treated her like a daughter, but when he disappeared one day, just a few short weeks later, the herd was ravaged by a slave dealer, and maylea was taken. the first few days in the slave pens were terrifying, but then . . . covered in mud and terrified another foal was added to her pen. A colt.
the two bonded by accident, him coming over to investigate after seeing her coat with out the mud, bright and beautiful, and he was struck by that, by her innocence, her sweetness, and he vowed to take care of her. that they'd be partners . . . and then, trouble came in the shape of a master. he saw her, and he wanted her. the colt, a young master to be, instantly leapt in, trying to claim her, to save her, but it wasn't to last, as the stallion forced her away anyways, forced her to say good bye to avanti. she lasted only a year in that place though. a single year before she escaped, away from the monster of a master, away from it all. through out her travels she searched, and searched, and searched for her lost friend. but now, three, and an adult suddenly, she's wandered into a new land, with her best friend no where in sight. - How did you find us?: old member

There was something safe, protecting, something that made her feel like nothing could go wrong. And this something was only blossoming when she found herself in the company of a young master-to-be colt. Already, though, she could see the changes, see the works of what would soon make this colt into not just any master, but one even she’d feel safe and protected with. She looked at him, seeing the relief, seeing the pain vanishing, seeing it all come together as he let out a slow breath, the movement barely making a sound even as the air slipped from between his muzzle. Her eyes, that had been trained so carefully so as to see Persephone before she ever arrived, had caught ever little motion, even as he seemed to work hard at keeping his cool, remaining normal, remaining calm.
I promise, May.The soft sound, the way her name was shortened, it seemed so much personal then two slaves who just met, as if they’d been friends forever, knew each other forever. She blinked softly, watching him, listening to him speak such beautiful words, to have so much trust, and faith in her. To hear words that praised, no belittled her. It was a passing treasure, one she’d always hold close to her heart. You didn’t hurt me. You never hurt anyone. And you never will, either. You aren’t like that. For a moment, disbelief crossed her face, instinct bringing Persephone’s words to her mind before, for the first time in her life, she let the words move on past, not allowing them to stick into her brain, haunt her waking moments. For the first time, she allowed herself to trust someone else, as the disbelief slowly changed to a stunning relief, relief to know that one person, at least one, was willing in believing the best in her. She could feel her face heating slightly, tiny hooves piercing the mud as she shifted them slightly, before finding the courage to look at him and smile, “You really . . . believe that . . . believe . . . in me?
There was something so very wrong, in her mind, to see such a prideful, boasting colt turn into such an ashamed, retched thing. And it instinctively made her want to move closer, promise that everything would be okay, anything to see his ears perk back up, his smile in place, the prideful puff as he’d throw his chest out, head arched. But this, this Avanti wasn’t the Avanti she knew, head dropped, ears falling, muscles slack,, and instantly she’d brushed her muzzle against his cheek, and she couldn’t help but smile when he opened his eyes, whispering softly, that only because her muzzle was against his cheek, her head by his, could she hear,
Or at least, for that moment it felt that way. But the moment passed the moment the master had seen her, eyed her, watching her, and then speaking to her. Her eyes went wide, her mouth closed shut, even as she noticed Avanti’s muscles tense, sneering, as his ears pinned. May was quick to move, hiding behind Avanti, barely able to bring herself to so much as look at the fiery beast who was there to take her from Avanti, to take her away, and then, her eyes snapped open wide as her companion, her dearest friend spoke in a calm, almost grown up voice. Danger present in the undertones, as he stepped towards the fence,
The fantasy was ruined however, as the stallion soon began to laugh, and May’s ears pinned as she took a step closer to Avanti, hiding her body completely from the fiery stallion, pressed tightly against Avanti’s side as she shook with fear at the sound, hiding her face against the side of his barrel. He was here, Avanti was here, and he wouldn’t let anything happen to her. He swore. He’d protect her . . . He swore.
