Morning. It was but a few breaths away, the sleepy sun still hiding beneath the horizon. Brilliant reds, yellows and purples shot like arrows across the midnight blues and deep purples of the nighttime sky, kissing the bottoms of clouds with a fiery pink. A beautiful sunrise to be sure.
Birds sung to one another across the land, greeting the new day. Crickets chirped goodnight to the moon as it made its daily exchange with the sun.
The mare's footfalls were nearly silent on top of the springy moss. She closed her eyes and sighed with contentment. The coolness and greenness felt heavenly after trekking for what felt like eternity in a hot and dusty climate.
A ridiculous urge to roll in the greenery overtook the mare like nothing she ever felt before. Her head rotated this way and that, speeding her gait to a quick walk as she threaded through the thick trees. She was so intent on finding a large enough clearing that she was blind to the branches until they slapped across her face and neck, some moving fast and hard enough to leave welts. She didn't care. The mare was happy enough to see grass and see the brightening sky blotted by branches!
There! Ichatha made a high-pitched noise of delight as she all but threw herself to her knees. She threw her black-tinted legs toward the rising sun grunting as she rolled this way and that, covering her russet body in dew and crushed greenery. It never occurred to her that she looked like a fool. But then again, how could she look a fool if there were no witnesses?

| I tried to spend as little time as possible on the flats, the lack of other equines drove me slightly insane. And the friendliness that I showed others when they crossed my path was completely out of character. The loneliness HAD to stop. After patroling my empty borders I headed out for the day, the sun had just began to greet the world and the birds had begun to sing. Slight annoyance trickled through my bloodstream, birds had always bugged me their voices that some considered musical just sounded high and harsh to my ebony harks. Trotting through the forest those harks picked up on a high-pitched squeal. A snort escaped from my nares as I realized that it wasn't one of those bird creatures, not a bird at all. No, it was another equine. A flicker of excitment danced inside of me and it took all of my will power to crush it. I was a dark stallion, no need for light emotions. As I turned to walk towards the squeal the other's perfume hit my nares and sent my ears forward and caused my neck to arch slightly. My slow rocking walk that was characteristic of my quarter horse breeding changed suddenly back into a trot. As her scent got stronger I slowed back down. My orangey orbs took in my surroundings as I noticed the russet colored mare stand up from what I guessed was her roll. A smirk settled itself on my midnight colored maw as I stepped into the clearing. "Hello bird. Enjoy your roll?" -complete- OOC-ehhh Idk how I feel bout it..He's actin so out of character cause he's lonelyy<3 "Speech..."

Hello bird. Enjoy your roll?
Ichatha could have sworn that her heart dropped at the stranger's sudden greeting. She was so focused on the joy of seeing green again, she never heard his approach. She gaped in surprised and jerked her head toward the source of their voice. The moment of fear dissipated as she saw another horse. Then again, what else would it be? She shook her head at her foolishness.
"I..I-uh…yeah?" Surprise had momentarily stolen her tongue and she stuttered like an idiot.
The little mare mistook the stallion's smirk for a grin and tentatively returned a smile of her own. Her shoulders lifted and fell in a light shrug. "It's, ah, been a while since I've seen anything green. I wasn't too sure if it was real, so I decided to find out." She chuckled, unsure if the stranger would share her humor.
Moments passed in slow and awkward increments. Ichatha's dark eyes followed a pair of birds as they chased one another between branches, trying not to be obvious in her lack of social skills. What happens next? Does she introduce herself? Does he go first? She never really had any experience in meeting strangers- any new horses were born and that didn't really count, did it? She shifted from one side to another, unsure.
"So…who are you? How did you find this place? How long have you been here?" There, she did it. Blathered like a nitwit. [/blockquote][/size]

| I cocked my head to the side when the mare jumped slightly at my voice, supposed I could have made a noise or something before entering the clearing. But oh well, what's done is done. Inside I thought about dropping to the ground and rolling, showing the mare that she wasn't the only one pleased to see green. Then I thought about it again and wanted to kick myself. That would be utterly stupid and I may need company but I'm not going to make a fool of myself to have it. Flicking my ears forward more to catch the mare's stuttered words the corners of my maw turned up a bit more in a shadow of a smile when she spoke of needing to know if the grass was real or not. A dry chuckle escaped from my maw, if I hadn't seen grass in a while I would probably roll around for a while too. Then she stopped speaking and I wasn't quite sure what to say really. But there was a twig wrapped around one of her tresses that fell between her harks and it was bugging me and kept drawing my attention to it. Taking few paces closer to her I reached forward and gently tugged it from her fetlock. Then I realized what I did and back away a step. "Sorry, that was bothering me." It dawned on me that she had spoken to me asking my name and where I was from. "I am Diablo the lord of Tenebrous Flats. I arrived in Tuathia after a disaster hit my homelands and I have been here for a season." I turned my orangy eyes to hers and offered a small smile. "Who are you?" -complete- OOC-<3 "Speech..."

Ichatha blinked hard when the stallion stepped forward and lifted his muzzle to her forehead. The skin around her eyes wrinkled in confusion as he tugged on her forelock. Was he one of those who were obsessed about appearances? Was he working out a particularly ugly tangle? She had opened her mouth to ask him what he was doing when he stepped back. She saw the twig in his mouth before he spit it out and quickly connected the dots. Thankfully her fur covered what would have been a fairly decent blush.
Awwwkwaaaard… she thought to herself, taking note of her reaction. Why would she blush from something like that? It wasn't like he was making fun of her or flirting with her or anything embarrassing like that. It was a freaking twig!
She nodded as Diablo introduced himself. She chuckled to herself at the name. It didn't seem to fit this kind-hearted stallion save for his ink-dark coat. Some things just didn't make sense in this world.
Who are you?
Who am I, indeed? …I don't think I'm anyone, really. Nothing significant happened to me. Well, unless you count leaving my home behind. Actually, now that I think about it…I'm Lonely. That's who and what I am.
Keeping the depressive prattle safely in her head, Ichatha nodded again, though she had no idea where Tenebrous Flats was, let alone where this place was or what it was called.
"I'm Ichatha. I, ah, I live in the middle of nowhere. I just got here. You're the first horse I've seen in a long time. I've lost track." The bright bare mare sighed, gaze traveling sightlessly to the grass at Diablo's feet. Her heart stung with the pain of homesickness. She missed her mother and her father, her siblings and the horses that might as well have been siblings.
Mornings had started with watching the foals frolic and play. Some days would be filled with a trek to the giant lake and back. Others contained nothing but basking in the warm sun. She missed home, but there was nothing she could do about it now. Ichatha gave herself a mental slap to snap her out of the sudden funk.
She glanced back at Diablo, the beginnings of a mischievous smirk tugging at her lips. It was obvious she was becoming more relaxed around Diablo as he slowly faded from the appearance as a stranger.
"So, what do you for fun around here?"
