My mother often told me of the day she met my father when she was younger, of how much she loved him and then the day he disappeared. Then she told me he sad she was when he left, and thought that maybe it was because he didn't love her any more and I did my best to cheer her up every time, even though I was so young. She also told me of how the wildfire tore through her old home, forcing everyone to flee, and of how she banded together with another mare in the desert. I was born the day they found the oasis in the middle of the desert, and she named me Aurum. And as soon as she recovered from giving birth to me, she took me and together we wandered our new home for a few weeks, before she lead me away and left the land to get away from old memories.
As we travelled together, I grew and grew, and as I did so, I was always on the lookout for danger. I wanted to protect my mother, even though I knew I wouldn't stand a chance, it didn't stop me from trying. I lost track of exactly how long we had been travelling for, when we finally came upon a new land, and after crossing the snow covered border I asked my mother permission to leave her side and go exploring. And as soon as she gave me permission to, we both went our separate ways. I eventually found myself wandering through a snow covered forest of bare trees, and I lifted my head to scan my surroundings curiously. After wandering a sufficient way into the forest, I halted and dug in the snow with a fore leg to scrape the snow away to lightly graze on the grass patch, just like my mother had taught me to. When I had the grass right down, I lifted my head up to look around again.

ooc || ack. I haven't really played her enough, so it's kinda sucky.
She was lost. All familiarity fading into the backdrop until the young black mare didn’t even know where she was; and it was bliss. Caoimhe knew very little joys in life that even remotely compared to being lost in the wind – carried to somewhere new… somewhere unexplored. It was the one thing she had always possessed control over, able to manipulate her path as she willed. As a nomad there really were no rules, no set of guidelines she was required to follow. It was just her, a lone traveler with nothing to her name. It had its hardships, naturally. But didn’t everything? Risk is in every action, every step taken… and even those not. It was a part of life regardless which path you chose to follow. Hers were only easier to discern, the idea of security in numbers a fashionable concept among many. She had never found it appealing and the confinements of a regular society felt more like chains, weighing her down to one place and eventually one stallion. Caoimhe didn’t think she had it in her to make such a dedication, then again she had never really tried. This had been the life she was born into – nomadic at birth and there had been no reason for her to change her ways. Everyone she had ever known never stayed long in one place just as she did, they would travel for a time but solitude had always been their calling.
As she ventured forward through the snow laden lands, she came upon a wall off bare trees stretching from either direction as far as she could see. The layer of snow thinned at the base of the forest and only came up to her fetlocks rather than her hocks, in which she was thankful to no longer have to shift through. Glancing once behind her at the trail she had carved out, she began to move – weaving between the unevenly spaced trees, careful to avoid the fallen strewn about the forest floor. It was only a few moments time before she started to notice indents in the otherwise untouched snow – smaller than her own but larger than the many tracks of the forest critters. She lowered her head down and breathed in deep a chilled scent, not long since placed. Caoimhe’s head shot up, know that she was not alone… and within the maze of sentinels stood another in which she did not spot right away. Her crystalline blue eyes scanned, her body turning to follow, until she spotted the one the tracks belonged to. A colt, only a few years younger than she was, stood stock still and his posture lax but also alert. The black mare eyed him for a moment, before making her way curiously towards him, uttering not a word as she approached.

During the time I had been standing alone, I had moved forward a few times to scrape away the snow to graze, stopping and lifting my head to look around again each time the grass was grazed down. A few times dashes of brown and black caught my attention, and each time I turned to follow the small creature, to find it was either a small squirrel or a bird, or even a rabbit. At the back of my mind, I was constantly wondering what my mother was doing and how she was. Despiter my age, inexperience and smaller body, I would defend her as best as I could. I had lost track of the time I had been here, standing around, when the faint sound of crunching snow caught my attention. I turn around to see a black stranger coming towards me, and in curiosity, I extend my neck out to sniff the air, catching her scent. I perk my ears forward as I pull my neck back, watching her approach. I offer the mare a small, gentle smile. "Hello." I speak, lowering my head slightly in greeting. That said, I go quiet as I wait for her to respond.
