She wanted a baby. For a year she had been in Kylong Valley. Now, she came to this magical place, hoping that Phantom would follow the trail that she left him. She spent enough time with him to decide that was what she wanted a baby. Their herd and family needed to grow. It was time.
She stepped into the Meadows, feeling a warm sensation go over her. The sun played with pelt and she knew it was the sunshine and the excitement that ran over her. She pranced through the grass, kicking her heals up as she did. Her excitement was a long pent up frustration over the winter. Now, the sun and flowers were back and she was ready to bring new life into the world. She would bring new life next spring, but she would be willing wait. She found a place to relax in the sun and wait for her Phantom to come to her.

It was not to be Phantom, but someone entirely different to approach her today. His herd was empty. Axel was all by himself out there on the peaks. There were no mares, no stallions, no foals playing along the mountain trails. He was just there all by himself. He had to go find a mare somewhere, no matter what. He made his way toward the meadows. The wonderful spring was bringing about new life, and prominent hope for new life. The green grass tickled his legs and knees as he trotted through, looking for a mare to bear his foal and perhaps present an heir. Eventually, the scent of the mare caught his attention and he cantered as he moved to look for her.
Eventually, the bay stallion caught sight of the sorrel mare as he moved toward her, picking up his feet and arching his neck as he tried to walk smoothly, almost in a prance, toward her. "Hello miss..." He said in smooth tones, trying to woo this pretty thing before him and look cool. He turned his side to her, letting the sunlight shine upon every ruddy, black, and white hair that was upon him. He wanted to appear as a sight to behold for her. Turning to her again, he let his bangs fall in front of his left eye, "I would ask what a lovely mare such as yourself is doing here, but I believe I already know."

She had not expected to be found by another stallion. She was hoping for Phantom, since she had not seen him much lately. She jumped a bit at the new voice, and brought her elegant head up, looking at him. Her orbs watched his, as his voice floated to her eyes. He asked why she was here, although he could already guess why she was there. A small shiver crossed Kayla's sorrel pelt. She turned to face him, backing up a bit. She took a deep breath, getting her courage together.
"I am waiting on my lead, Phantom. We had a meeting here today. I am Kayla, and who might you be." She said, in her sweet soft voice. She was not a mean mare, she was just scared. She didn't know who this stallion was, nor what he wanted. She stood her ground, not looking defensive, but more scared. Her fear was that he would hurt her and that was not what she wanted. She tilted her head sideways.
"May I ask why you are here?" She asked, her voice quivering a bit. She had an idea why he was there. To steal other stallion's mares. And here she was, alone, no stallion to protect her. She was definitely an candidate for theft. She watched him, waiting. She wished Phantom was here, to she would be safe. Though her body was not cooperating. She was in season and the fire was quaking all over her. She knew the scent of her season would catch his attention. It was only a matter of time.

It seemed his actions had the opposite affect. The mare seemed scared, and he turned to face her fully. At least she still decided to talk to him. The scent of her season had reached him and he felt himself shudder inwardly, not with horror, but with having to try to curb the carnal desires. A smile crossed his velvet black lips as he responded, "I am Axel. It appears Phantom is not here. I have not heard of the stallion." He said as he arched his neck again, "Relax though, I would never want to hurt a beautiful face such as yours." He responded, more trying to woo her and charm her.
The bay stallion began to move closer toward her, "Why am I here? I am here for the same reason you are. It is spring, is it not?" He inquired, "I am the Neutral Beta, by the way. You should return with me. You will like it on the Blackburrow Peaks." He added. Oh yes, he was going to through out the high-rank card. Surely she would want to ditch the low-ranked stallion and come to the Neutral Beta's herd?

When he spoke, he said he had not heard of Phantom. Is it possible that when phantom left in the winter to find other horses, he had not returned? Was it possible that Phantom was never returning and that she was all alone? Kayla wanted a baby of her own more than anything else in the world. Then he mentioned he was the Neutral Beta, and thought that would win her over. Kayla laughed and loosened up a bit. She smiled warmly when he said her scent had led him there. If she was going to be alone, then she needed to find a new home and here was a stallion willing to let her in. She walked up to him, gently and smoothly running her nose over his neck.
"Well, the whole leader thing could turn me on, if I was into that. I guess the question is, can you handle a mare like me?" She said as she playfully nipped at his neck. With that, she started to trot off, wanting to see if he could play around a bit, before she gave herself away to him.

He felt a shiver of pleasure as she came up to him and ran her nose over his neck. Axel moved his own over to try to nibble at her. A chuckle escaped him when she said that if she was into the whole leader thing, it would have won her over. She then asked the question of if he could handle a mare like her, "I believe so." the bay responded but then she nipped at his neck and trotted away. Keeping his neck arched, Axel lifted up his own feet as he moved after her. Eventually, he tucked his head down to swing his muzzle back and forth, tossing his black mane around. Axel was going to take this mare. He was determined that way. Of course, he did not mind being toyed with and teased first. One thing was for sure, he was planning on stealing this mare away to his herd once this was over with. She would be safe among the peaks, and so would the foal she bears.

He thought he could handle her. She was playful and loving, but she was really going to enjoy toying this with this stallion before she let him have her. It was just the way she thought about doing it. If he could not handle her playful nature, then she would be miserable for the rest of her days. She wanted a stallion who could take on her sense of youth and playfulness and not beat her down for it. Phantom never seemed to hang around much to play with her. She wanted to see if this new stallion was up to the challenge.
She giggled as she trotted away, arching her neck, letting her tresses dance with the breeze. She was a lovely copper sight to behold. She pranced and played with him, trying to nip him as they trotted along. It was not mean, it was playful. After a few minutes she stopped and nuzzled his neck for him to stop.
"I am playful, loving and smart, Axel. Please except me for who and what I am, and I will be yours." She said, her voice very serious. Her season was starting to get to her and having a stallion this close was only making it harder on her.
"What do you say, Axel?" She asked and then she waited for his answer.

The bay stallion had trotted after her and after a few moments, he also stopped and nuzzled her in return. His ears perked as he listened to what she had to say and gave a nod, "Of course I will accept you for who you are. Why wouldn't I?" He responded. The bay stallion was ready to seal the deal as he began to nuzzle her and tried to move behind her. He was careful, since he knew she could easily change her mind now and try to kick him. The Neutral Beta was ready to offer her a new home, and she would just have to carry his foal inside of her for a while. "What do you say though? Care to take care of things here and come to Blackburrow Peak with me?" He inquired, though his muscles were tense since he was behind her and she could easily get upset and kick him if she felt he was getting too close, but the way things were going, he did not really think he had to worry about it.

He would take her as she was, playful and mischievous. That made all the difference to her. The fire inside was up to a boiling point and she could tell by the way he was circling her, he was ready to mount up and seal the deal. She wanted this, a child of her own. In her heart, it did not matter who the father was, as long as he helped when he was needed and she had her child. She made no effort to stop him. Instead she turned her elegant crown and looked at him, orbs filled with need and longing.
"Yes. On both accounts. Give me the child I seek and I am yours. For as long as you will have me." She said. Gently, she flicked her tail across his chest, just to tease and urge him on. She was ready. She wanted this child more than anything in the world. Phantom had left her alone, and Axel was willing to have her. She would accept the gift he was willing to give and let nature take its course. Again she flicked her tail, but this time left it aside. And open invite for him to seal the deal and claim what he sought to claim.

It seemed that she was not going to kick him in order to get him away, but instead was going to accept him and let him do what stallions were born to do. "I certainly will." He said, and he planned on having her there with him for as long as he could. It was then, once she was ready, that he mounted upon her back. His front hooves wrapped around her stomach the best he could. After a while, he was done, and he slipped from her, breathing a little hard from the action he had just done, but moved up to her side again and nuzzled her. A smile crossed his face. Next spring, a foal would be at her side, and he did hope it would be a colt, an heir for his throne. If not, he could always make her try again, or maybe he will have other mares by then to give him an heir.
"Well, shall we head home?" He asked as he gave her a gentle nip to get her to follow him. The bay stallion then began to head toward his herd, where he could keep her and protect her and the foal she would be carrying inside of her. Perhaps soon, his herd would be populated with mares and his foals, and perhaps some stallions to help guard them all. He would just have to find out.

She had a home and soon, she would have a foal. She was ready. Ready to be a mom, ready to make mistakes and fix them. Ready for the whole thing. Axel seemed sweet enough, in his own way. She would grow to care about him. Kayla smiled to herself, and readied herself for her new home. Axel was ready to lead her home and she was ready to go.
"Lead the way, my lord." She said, with a bouncing step. She was happy and excited. She was going to be a mommy and get a home, all in one day. Well, a home with a stallion who was not about to run away. As she thought about Phantom, she felt a bit sad. He was the first stallion to be nice to her, but then again, he had vanished on her. Perhaps he would come back and take her away. Would Axel fight for her? She would just have to wait and see.

Axel was quite pleased as well. This was the first mare in his herd, and now she was going to bear his foal. She would fulfill her requirement, but he would hope she would bear an heir. Oh well, even if she did not, there was always next time. He could still get more foals out of her. The bay stallion moved to her side and moved to lead her home. He would fight for any mare in his herd, if he was challenged. Well, it was time to go home now and he would show her the peaks that were to be her home. Perhaps he may grow to favor her and give her a rank.
He nodded when she said to lead the way. At least she was respectful of him and he took off at a trot towards the Blackburrow Peaks. "I am sure you will love it there. The mists lay among the peaks almost every day, and the light of the morning sun glowing upon them makes them look majestic." He said as he continued on. He was trying to build up the home for her. There was enough to eat and drink there, but the only thing was, they had some jagged edges. One false slip could send a horse tumbling to their death, or horribly injure them.
