Waking to the sounds of a few winter birds chirping nearby I easily slide from the hiding spot I have been living in these past few weeks. During my time here, I have encountered no one save the winter birds and until today I have quite honestly preferred it that way. I have been in need of time to mend my broken heart and tattered soul and I have had many months to do so, but the few weeks I have been in this new place I have healed in leaps and bounds. There has been no one to question whether or not I am okay, how I am doing, or anything of the sort; I am most grateful though for not seeing his traitorous form lurking about in the shadows any longer despite what my imagination tells me.
Dark blue eyes take in the sight of little brown birds hopping through the light snow that must have fallen while I slept and a smile plays on my delicate lips at the sight of their antics. ”Good morning to you as well dear birds.” I greet them happily, the world seeming so much brighter than it has in months. They peer up at me, their features surprised but friendly and I chuckle lightly before nodding my head to them and moving along to find something to break the fast with.
Several minutes pass by before I find something suitable but I am grateful regardless, as I always have been. Why everyone expected my personality to alter itself so entirely is beyond my comprehension I suppose. Brushing away the thoughts of what is in the past and what will remain there, I smile once more and shift my weight to use my right hoof to dig for the grass I smell. This patch is not quite as dead as the rest, which I do find odd, but I will not question it. Lowering gracefully down, I munch happily my eyes drifting closed as I let my ears do the watching though I have not come across anyone just yet I know surprises happen. A melody begins to play in my head that my mother used to hum to me and I find myself beginning to hum after a few minutes of munching and I move off to stretch my legs some more, humming all the while.
